Mahalo Hawaii

I had an AMAZING time in Hawaii. It was chaotic at times, but restful. Every time my mind started wondering towards work things, I'd look at a palm tree, the ocean, or start playing with one of the nephews and it'd all disappear. Amazing.

There's so much to tell, so I'll just give a few highlights:

Went snorkeling with my brother in the North Shore area. It was great. The fish were beautiful and colorful and it felt like I was in an aquarium. At one point my brother grabbed my hand (scaring the be-jeezers outta me. I thought he was a fish trying to eat me!) and drug me through the water. He brought me to a TURTLE! I couldn't believe it. The creature was huge with these beautiful, dark, almond-shaped eyes. It was looking right at me and it was so close that we could've touched it. I was snorkeling at "my" beach a few days later and came across another turtle. We swam together for awhile. Well, it swam, I followed.

Shawn and I went geocaching near our condo and came across a super-sketchy area. It was a trash dump that somebody was/is living in. We didn't want to hike all the way back the way we had come so Shawn (the big bro that he is) went first, picked up a club and cleared the way. I grabbed a huge nut (bolts and nuts, not peanut nut) to throw if somebody came at us. Once we found the trail we needed it was a fun rock climb up to the top. The views were breathtaking. We took his boys to an easier cache later that week. Lucas loves a good treasure hunt!

Lets see...we did some skimboarding, relaxing on the beaches, building "sandcastles", went to a Luau...just...existed. I'm usually a get-up-and-go vacationer, but this was perfect. Sitting, not thinking about things that bring you down, relaxing, had a few mai tais, hanging with the coolest boys...I need to vacation like that more often!
